2007 Ducati GT1000 Sport Classic
For sale is a stunningly beautiful example. Very nearly Showroom Condition. This machine is in such like-new condition that we can only rate it as Mint, since "excellent condition" just doesn't do it justice. You will not find another example like this on the market. This bike truly is a one-of-a-kind.
Bone stock, and clean as a whistle: Here is your opportunity to own a piece of history.
This machine may very well be the finest post-consumer-purchased example of this bike in the world, unless someone, somewhere, just bought one and never rode it at all. This is a museum piece, folks. And yet! it is a daily driver. You can buy this bike and ride it to the cafe each day, enjoying all that it has to offer (if I have to explain what that is, then this bike probably isn't for you). Or, you can purchase this bike and put it in a showcase for preservation and posterity. Because just looking at it is, in some ways, just as fun as riding it!
There's not a scratch on it
It's obviously never been on its side. (Note that in a couple photos it appears to show a vertical scratch on the fuel tank. There is no scratch there. That must have been a spider web thingy that I missed with my micro-fiber cloth).
I rode this bike three miles out to the photo shoot location after giving it a wash and 15-minute detail job, so you can see a little dirt on the underside of the rear fender. Nothing to hide here... a very meticulous detail job will bring this bike to an even greater luster. The bike has never spent a night (or a full day, for that matter) outdoors, and it's never been ridden in the rain. It's clean, as you can see.
It's Original
This bike has the original pipes, the original wheels, the original grips, the original handlebars, the original brakes... everything is factory original. Sure, you could improve on all that stuff, and have a measurably better bike, but you would then simply join the ranks of the tuners and tweakers. Don't get me wrong, I love those guys, and I'm one of them! But this bike has been set aside from all of our independent quest for improvement and enhancement, as it is factory stock in every way. Thus, it holds a special title of its own, just for being ORIGINAL. Note that even the tires are original, so if you want to ride it, you might want to seriously scrutinize the tires, just because we know that good rubber doesn't last forever...
Only one modification
The only modification from factory stock on this bike is the installation of the Fat Duc O2 Manipulator (see photos). And lemme tell ya': This thing is a must do, if you want a decently running machine. I mean, what a difference! It now eases off idle gracefully instead of bucking and snorting along the way. This mod makes the engine run smooth like you know it should, and now you can come down to idle in first gear and still have a decently running machine. It makes all the difference in the world. (I suspect it now runs the way the engineers intended, before they were forced to schedule the fuel to the liking of the EPA.)
Of course, the true purist might choose to uninstall this mod, but seriously: Why, dude? Why wreck a good thing, especially when no one will ever know, unless you tell them? Trust me, this is a positive upgrade.
Regarding the Ducati GT 1000 Loose Fuel Tank and Spreading Problem:
If you are conversant with the GT1000, you may have heard about the "Fuel Tank Spreading Problem." The problem was that the fuel tanks, being of composite (not metal) construction, were susceptible to dimensional instability, apparently exacerbated by alcohol-enhanced petrol fuel, which is prevalent in the USA. This bike has been primarily fueled with "clear gasoline," which contains no ethanol. Thus, the fuel tank spreading problem has not troubled this bike so far, though there is small evidence that the tank has spread a little bit (see photo here). For more information on this topic, see this link, or just google it.
Summary:
This is the kind of bike that, if you gotta have it, then you must purchase it. That's all there is to it.
